Identification points

  • The sympathetic neurons are multipolar neurons with eccentric nuclei, and binucleated cells.
  • The satellite cells surround the multipolar neurons
  • Unmyelinated and myelinated nerve axons aggregate into bundles and course through the sympathetic ganglion
  • The flattened nuclei on the peripheries of the myelinated axons are the neurolemmocytes (Schwann cells).
  • These nerve fibers represent the preganglionic axons, postganglionic visceral efferent axons, and visceral afferent axons
